The position:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cloud Engineer or Architect, preferably with expertise in product ownership or product management, to join our streaming analytics infrastructure team in Global Data & AI (GDAI) Platform Engineering. As a Technical Product Owner, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing cloud-based platforms and analytics solutions on the AWS cloud, supporting a self-service platform for data consumers creating dashboards for real-time observability.
You will work closely with other engineers on the team and serve as the interface for the business to capture and prioritize work items. We expect the team to create solutions together, making the position representative, yet explicitly with a focus on tech over product strategy. The strategy will be co-owned with business partners and the engineering manager.
Main Responsibilities:
Represent the platform product towards the business and support the main business owners in defining strategy and product vision.
Architect and implement a re-usable, on-demand, scalable, reliable, and secure service.
Monitor and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure, addressing any issues or performance bottlenecks.
Collaborate closely with the engineering manager for the platform product you represent.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in cloud technologies and data analytics tools, recommending and implementing relevant improvements and innovations.
Collaborate with cloud and platform engineers across teams for integrating with other services of the GDAI platform offering.
Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
Document technical designs, processes, and procedures to ensure effective knowledge transfer and maintain a repository of best practices.
Key Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Solid experience (7+ years) working as a Cloud Engineer/Architect, with a focus on cloud-based data solutions.
Experience with product ownership, tech lead roles, or engineering management.
Expert knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS (preferred), Azure, or Google Cloud, with hands-on experience in deploying and managing cloud infrastructure.
Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.
Deep understanding of cloud security best practices and the ability to implement security measures for data protection and compliance.
Familiarity with DevOps best practices and tools for continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD).
Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, TypeScript, or Go.
Experience with IaC tools such as CDK or Terraform.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Nice to Have:
Experience with Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) or Test-Driven Development (TDD).
Experience working with Data analytics tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, Grafana, or RStudio.
Familiarity with authentication standards such as SAML.
